Business Evaluation
& Market Assessment
(BMA)
- WITH RICK GRANTHAM
All roads lead to BMA. Asking the critical questions upfront results in the right decisions being made.

Whether you are ready to sell your business or not, a BMA will prepare you for the journey you are about to embark on, or will provide the answers on when the right time will be to approach the market. It will empower you to make informed decisions, while also giving you the opportunity to see the DLI team at work before we set off on the journey with you. If you choose not to approach the market post-BMA, you will know what you need to do to get your business sale-ready.
The BMA process has been designed to provide Mid-Market businesses (pre-tax profit of R15m-R75m per annum) with options around how an equity transaction can grow their business, weather the economic storm and diversify personal wealth away from the business.
The Value of the BMA Process
Our BMA is a thorough evaluation of a business comprising the following elements:

Business Evaluation
• Value drivers, growth and
acquisition opportunities
• Market differentiators
• Business risk assessment

Market Analysis
• Analysis of the industry/sector,
activities, and acquirer/ strategic partner categories

Financial Evaluation
• Financial performance analysis
• Balance sheet and cash flow
analysis
• Forecast modelling and valuation
work

Market Blueprint Approach
• Acquirer vs. strategic partner plan
• Capital investment vs. working
capital requirements
• Market competitiveness
measurements
The BMA takes 2-3 months to complete. When you’re ready to take your business to market, expect market engagement (finding the right buyers) to take around 3 months. Once a suitable acquirer has been identified,
we move into the deal making and conclusion phase.

On completion, you will have a thorough understanding of the value, risk, timing and acquirer appetite for your business prior to approaching the market.
