One summit. Twice the impact.
Our Joint Chief Executive, Rick Grantham, is running Rhino Peak to help protect some of South Africa’s most endangered wildlife. DLI has put in the first R20,000. Now we’re challenging you to match it.
More Than a Mountain
This challenge is not only about reaching the summit. The Rhino Peak Challenge is one of South Africa’s most remarkable conservation fundraisers. Every September, a limited group of Ambassadors takes on the 21km route to the summit of Rhino Peak (3,056m) in the Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site, combining personal commitment with meaningful impact for the country’s most endangered wildlife.
The Challenge raises funds for organisations working on the front line of conservation: Wildlife ACT, the Endangered Wildlife Trust, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and the Bearded Vulture Recovery Programme, funding rangers in the field, anti-poaching operations, and monitoring and recovery programmes for rhinos, bearded vultures and cranes. Since its launch in 2016, the Challenge has raised almost R8 million for conservation initiatives.
This year, Rick is one of those Ambassadors.
Rick's Story
Rick first summited Rhino Peak in 1981 as a schoolboy. Today, he and his family own property in the valley below, with a beautiful view of Rhino Peak itself.
On 19 September, he goes back up. This time, the run comes with a commitment: raising R20,000 to help protect endangered wildlife.

The Match

At DLI, we spend our days helping business owners reach their summit through the successful sale of a business they’ve spent a lifetime building. We know what a long run takes: preparation, endurance, and backing from people who believe in the outcome.
So we’re backing Rick with the full R20,000, his target, met, before he takes a single step.
Now here’s the challenge: match it. Every rand donated from here goes beyond the target, straight to the organisations working every day to protect endangered species. If our network collectively matches our pledge, Rick summits with R40,000 for conservation, double the impact of the climb.

It’s tax-deductible. All donations qualify for a Section 18A certificate through the Endangered Wildlife Trust.
